Saraswati:
Saraswati is the giver of knowledge. She is the knowledge aspect of the Divine Mother. The book in her hand signifies the Vedas, the symbol of Brahman in the form of sound. The Veena signifies music and rhythm, the symbol of Naada-Brahman. Saraswati stands for pure Sattwa Guna. So She is decked in all white. White is symbolic of light and knowledge. A spiritual aspirant who worships Saraswati will have to be pure in body, mind, and soul.
Mount: Swan – Swan is the mount of Saraswati. It lives in water, however, does not get wet. It has one more claim to fame. It can separate and drink milk from a mixture of the two. When the man becomes capable of separating the impermanent world and its essence, God, then he becomes endowed with the Knowledge of Brahman.
