“দলাই লামা ও পাঞ্চেন লামা যখন বেলুড় মঠে এসেছিলেন তখন আমি আর স্বামী মাধবানন্দ (পরবর্তীকালে নবম অধ্যক্ষ) তাঁদের receive করি ৷ আমরা মন্দিরেরভেতর তাঁদের নিয়ে ঢুকলাম ৷ দলাই লামা গর্ভমন্দিরের ভেতর ঠাকুরের একেবারে কাছে চলে গেলেন ৷ সেখানে অনেকক্ষণ দাঁড়িয়ে ঠাকুরের দিকে তাকিয়ে দেখতে লাগলেন ৷ তারপর এই গঙ্গার দিকের বারান্দায় প্রেসিডেন্টের সঙ্গে তাঁদের সাক্ষাৎ হয় ৷ এখানে বসে দলাইলামা আমাকে প্রশ্ন করেন, ‘সমাধি কত দিনে হয় ?’ দেখো তো কীরকম প্রশ্ন ৷….আমি তার উত্তরে বললাম —-ভগবান বুদ্ধের ছয় মাস সাধনার পর সমাধি লাভ হয় ৷ আর এখানে যাঁকে দেখছেন (অর্থাৎ ঠাকুর) তাঁর গুরুর চল্লিশ বৎসর সাধনার পর সমাধি লাভ হয়েছিল ৷ আর এঁর (ঠাকুরের) সমাধি হয়েছিল মাত্র তিনদিনে ৷”

Dalai Lama and Revered Panchen Lama visited Belur Math, me and Swami Madhavananda (later 9th President Maharaj) received them. We entered the temple along with them. Dalai Lama went very close to Thakur inside the ‘garbhamandira’ (sanctum sanctorum). He looked at Thakur with deep concentration. Then he met President Maharaj sitting on the veranda facing the Ganga. While sitting there the Dalai Lama asked me, ‘How many days will it take to attain samadhi?’ You see what type of queer question it is. I answered:
‘Bhagavan Buddha struggled for six months to attain this samadhi state. And the guru (Totapuriji) of this saint whom you see here did sadhana for forty years to achieve that goal.
