This was Swami Vivekananda’s on call to all. I stop and think, could I ever consider the implementation of this in hod I not been a teacher? In the 32 years of my teaching experience, I feel I am a journey with my pupils, and this is a sort of trekking towards the goal. I try to instill in my students this ideal and vision of the greater life of humanity every child is a part of this and needs to kindle the light in oneself. The teacher is the guide and mentor who lights the lamp and keeps it burning. A true teacher converts problems into opportunities.

Somehow teaching has taken a back seat as a future career for students today. But without the basic foundation how can one aim for anything in life? The sense of discipline, involvement, understanding, and vision comes from the teacher, who in turn must be exemplary in behavior. I feel the teacher must possess the integrity, maturity, fairness, and sense of justice to transfer her own ideal and vision to the next generation So a teacher’s responsibility is immense because the person builds up society by being a role model. This is how the fabric of society is woven and the nation stays flexible and strong. An idealistic a society with universal co-existence can thus be achieved by means of a good education, guidance, motivation, and support, which comes from the teacher in school and parents at home. As the teacher takes the place of parents in school, it is therefore important that the teacher is sensitive and is able to empathize with the students when the need arises. There are instances when discreetly I have called the parents and tried to get their co-operation to sort out the trouble. I have made them aware of their responsibility towards the child’s future. I am satisfied when I see the child get back her confidence, security, and self-esteem. This acts as a turning point in her career and ensures her success in life With changing times, teaching also must be life-oriented. The social structure is going through a radical change. Education is no longer a narrow concept. On the contrary, it has to be correlated. Certain values like respect for seniors care for the elderly and the aged, family values, fellow feeling, responsibility towards society should be there to build up the framework of life. I feel it is a teacher’s duty to work for the manifestation of the divinity that already exists in the child. To do justice to Vivekananda’s words, let each student have a philosophy in life so that it helps him/her to maintain the balance of mind through the struggle and turmoil of life. This awareness of the divinity of the soul can work wonders in all spheres of life. So, I pray to the great divinity to protect and sustain the eternal “Teacher and Taught” relationship in this journey of life.
