What is the gain? It is a strength. Remove that cloak of trance induction which you have given occasion to feel qualms about the world, send not out considerations and expressions of shortcoming unto humankind. Realize that all transgressions and all indecencies can be summed up in that single word, shortcoming. … Let them all know what they are; let them repeat day and night what they are. Soham. Let them suck it in with their mothers’ milk, this idea of strength — I am He, I am He. (CW.III.426)

These (Dvaita, Vishitadvaita, Advaita) are the salient points of the three steps which Indian religious thought has taken in regard to God. We have seen that it started with the Personal, the additional inestimable God. It went from the outside to the interior grandiose body, God characteristic known to man, and finished in recognizing the spirit itself with that God, and making one Soul, a unit of all these various manifestations in the universe. This is the last word of the Vedas. It begins with dualism, goes through a qualified monism and ends in perfect monism. We know how very few in this world can come to the last, or even dare believe in it, and fewer still dare act according to it. Yet we know that therein (in Advaita) lies the explanation of all ethics, of all morality and all spirituality in the universe. (CW.II.252)

Sri Ramakrishna

@page { margin: 2cm } p { margin-bottom: 0.25cm; line-height: 120% }

All these three stages are necessary; the one does not deny the other, one is simply the fulfillment of the other. The Advaitist or the qualified Advaitist does not say that dualism is wrong; it is the right view, but a lower one. It is on the way to truth; therefore let everybody work out his own vision of this universe, according to his own ideas. Harm none, preclude the situation from securing none; take man where he stands and, on the off chance that you can, loan him some assistance and put him on a higher stage, yet do not injure and do not destroy. All will come to truth in the long run. (CW.II.253)

In what capacity can mental characteristics of experience be dense and made to live in one single cell of cellular material? There is no distinction between the cellular material of a fledgling and that of a human cerebrum. Everything we can say as to physical transmission is that it comprises of the few protoplasmic cells cut from the dad’s body. … Yet, what drivel to accept that ages and periods of past human experience got packed into a couple protoplasmic cells! A man plays a tune on a piano, he puts each finger on each key deliberately. He repeats this process until the movement of the fingers becomes a habit. He at that point plays a tune without giving exceptional consideration to every specific key. So also, we find as to ourselves that our inclinations are the consequence of past cognizant activities. A child is born with certain tendencies. Whence do they come? No child is born with a tabula rasa — with a clean, blank page — of a mind. (CW.I.320)

 On the off chance that the appropriate response is “Gracious, it was impulse”, that is essentially restoring the inquiry… There is no such thing as intuition; there is no such thing as nature separate from propensity. The propensity is one’s moment nature, and propensity is one’s first nature as well. All that is in your tendency is the consequence of propensity, and propensity is the aftereffect of experience. There can’t be any information however as a matter of fact. (CW.IX.209-210)

In this universe, something can never be delivered out of nothing. On the off chance that there is such an incredible concept as a human spirit, it can’t be delivered out of nothing. … That which has a starting must have an end. Hence, as spirits, we couldn’t have had any start. We have been existing constantly. (CW.IX.209)
