(560019, Vysharaja Math Building, Ramakrishna Ashrama Cir, Gandhi Bazaar, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560004, India)
ONCE A COUPLE WHILE DISCUSSING WITH REVERED SWAMI HARSHANANDA JI ASKED SUGGESTION TO GET RID OF TROUBLE THEY ARE FACING. SWAMIJI SUGGESTED TO CHANT VISHNU SAHSRANAMA FOR ABOUT 21 DAYS. AFTER 21 DAYS COUPLE CAME ALONG WITH THEIR FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL CHILD TO REPORT THE RESULT OF CHANTING TO SWAMIJI. DURING THE DISCUSSION, LADY TOLD SWAMIJI THAT THE MOTHER ROCK HERE IS VERY POWERFUL. SWAMIJI ASKED WHY SHE IS TELLING NOW. THEN SHE TOLD THE INCIDENT: A FEW YEARS BACK WHEN THIS CHILD WAS ABOUT 1 ½ YEAR OLD CAME HERE DURING THAKUR’S JAYANTHI CELEBRATION. AFTER RENDERING PRANAMS IN THE MAIN SHRINE TO THAKUR AND MOTHER THE COUPLE WENT TO RENDER PRANAM AT THE ROCK. HERE WAS LONG QUE TO SEE MOTHER. SO THE COUPLE STOOD IN QUE. BUT THE CHILD WENT TO THE TOP OF THE ROCK AND SAW MOTHER (Sri Sarada Devi) PHOTO THERE. SHE CAME BACK TO HER PARENTS TELLING THAT SHE SAW THE LADY WHO IS SITTING IN THE MAIN SHRINE. HERE SHE WAS WEARING GREEN SAREE DARKER THAN LEAVES AND SITTING. HER MOTHER ASKED HER DAUGHTER THEN WHAT SHE WAS DOING? TO THIS DAUGHTER REPLIED SHE WAS BLESSING EACH DEVOTEE WHO WAS BENDING TO HER TO DO PRANAMS WITH HER TWO HANDS PRESSING THE HEAD. HENCE MOTHER IS LIVING GODDESS IN THE ROCK AND SO THIS ROCK IS VERY POWERFUL AND HOLY MOTHER MADE THE CHILD TO KNOW WHAT ELDERS CAN’T.

page.49, The Gospel of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada

The realization of God depends on his grace and not on my spiritual practices – one should have this strong conviction in his mind. Practicing spiritual disciplines is only to ‘make the wings tired.’ When the wings of the bird are tired, it wants to rest somewhere. If it finds no other resting place, it is forced to perch on the mast of the boat. Until one is deeply convinced that there is no other resting place but God, one cannot wholly surrender oneself to him.

Whenever you talk to other people, never speak ill of others. You should avoid even hearing criticism of other people. If you have to hear criticism of others, quietly hear it but never join in. Take special note of this. If you criticize others or hear others being criticized, your mind will be corrupted and it will go down. It will then be difficult for you to love God.

1)There is no other way than remembering him always. Repeat his name – that alone is the way. Call on him. Call on him with love, with devotion. Concentrate on this. He will surely bestow his love on you. Believe me, there is no doubt about this.

Sri Ramakrishna

You may state that there are numerous mistakes and superstitions in another religion. I should answer: Suppose there are. Each religion has mistakes. Everybody imagines that his watch alone gives the right time. It is sufficient to have longed for God. It is sufficient to cherish Him and feel pulled in to Him. Don’t you realize that God is the Inner Guide? He sees the longing of our heart and the yearning of our soul. Suppose a man has several sons. The older boys address him distinctly as ‘Baba’ or ‘Papa’, but the babies can at best call him ‘Ba’ or ‘Pa’. Now, will the father be angry with those who address him in this indistinct way? The father knows that they too are calling him, only they cannot pronounce his name well. All children are the same as the father. Likewise, the devotees call on God alone, though by different names. They call on one Person only. God is one, but His names are many.

Everything depends upon the will of the Master. One can do only as much as the master graciously permits one to do. Blessed is the person whom the master selects as an instrument for his work. When Swami Saradananda came from Udbodhan, Swami Premananda said to him, “You know, I have a great desire to put on a cloth of pure yellow and to eat rice white as jasmine.” Swami Saradananda understood. That is the symbolic description of Radha – the aspect of God of which Sri Ramakrishna had said he was a part. The next day Swami Premananda asked for his attendant to call Brahmachari Jnana (a disciple of Swamiji) from Belur Math, who was then supervising the monastery. In a feeble voice, Swami Premananda asked, “Jnana, could you do one thing for me?” “Anything sir.” “Will you be capable to serve up the devotees?” “Yes, sir, I promise I shall do it.” “Remember, let there be no neglect unto the devotees!” Swami Premananda entreated….after a while, Swami Brahmananda returned again and said loudly, “ Brother Baburam, Brother Baburam, do you remember the Master?” Swami Premanandaopened his eyes, looked with a smile at the oil painting of the Master hanging on the wall, and saluted him with folded hands. He uttered feebly “grace, grace, grace”, and then passed away. Swami Brahmananda told the devotees, “Belur math has lost its mother”
