প্রচলিত মত নেতিভাবাপন্ন, বেদান্ত ইতিভাবাপন্ন। একমত মানুষকে তাহার দুর্বলতা দেখাইয়া দেয়, অপরে বলে—দুর্বলতা থাকিতে পারে, কিন্তু সে দিকে লক্ষ্য করিও না; আমাদিগকে উন্নতি করিতে হইবে। মানুষযখন প্রথম জন্মিয়াছে, তখনই তাহার রোগ কি জানা গিয়াছে।
সকলেই জানে নিজের কি রোগ; অপর কাহাকেও তাহা বলিয়া দিতে হয় না। আমরা বহির্জগতের সমক্ষে কপট আচরণ করিতে পারি, কিন্তু অন্তরের অন্তরে আমরা আমাদের দুর্বলতা জানি।
কিন্তু বেদান্ত বলেন, কেবল দুর্বলতা স্মরণ করাইয়া দিলেই বেশী উপকার হইবে না, তাহাকে ঔষধ দাও, মানুষকে কেবল সর্বদা রোগগ্রস্ত ভাবিতে বলা রোগের ঔষধ নয়—রোগ প্রতিকারে উপায় নয়।
মানুষকে সর্বদা তাহার দুর্বলতার বিষয় ভাবিতে বলা তাহার দুর্বলতার প্রতীকার নয়—তাহার শক্তির কথা স্মরণ করাইয়া দেওয়াই প্রতিকারের উপায়।
তাহার মধ্যে যে–শক্তি পূর্ব হইতেই বিরাজিত, তাহার বিষয় স্মরণ করাইয়া দাও। মানুষকে পাপী না বলিয়া বেদান্ত বরং ঠিক বিপরীত পথ দেখাইয়া বলেনঃ তুমি পূর্ণ ও শুদ্ধস্বরূপ, তুমি যাহাকে পাপ বলো, তাহা তোমাতে নাই।
পাপগুলি তোমার খুব নিম্নতম প্রকাশ; যদি পারো, উচ্চতরভাবে নিজেকে প্রকাশিত কর। একটি জিনিস আমাদের মনে রাখা উচিত—তাহা এই যে, আমরা সবই পারি। কখনও ‘না’ বলিও না, কখনও ‘পারি না’ বলিও না।
ওরূপ কখনও হইতেই পারে না, কারণ তুমি অনন্তস্বরূপ।
